Breaking the Stigma: Why Men's Skincare is Essential for Health and Confidence.

Men often face stigma around skincare, despite its importance for health and appearance. This societal pressure discourages men from embracing skincare as a vital part of self-care, leaving a key aspect of their well-being neglected.

There’s a critical gap in the men’s skincare market, where products go unused because men lack the guidance and motivation to care for their skin—an issue that’s important for both health and confidence, yet remains largely unaddressed.

How am I going to solve this problem ?

Technology that makes men feel attractive.

I aim to solve this problem by creating a personal assistant that guides men in choosing and applying skincare products tailored to their skin type, evolving with their needs to help them achieve their desired look and break through societal stigmas.

Beyond Apps: The Need for Real Solutions to Detect Hidden Skin Damage

Apps fall short in detecting hidden skin issues. Only a tangible solution like UV light can reveal the unseen damage, ensuring proper care beyond what phone cameras can capture.

Slide down to activate DOST

Due to privacy concerns, the product functions as a mirror. Upon sliding it down, it activates and begins analyzing the user's skin texture, providing personalized recommendations on which products to use and how to apply them.

Scans the face using UV light

To see the abnormalities on the face, it is essential to scan it through UV light and it shows what a phone camera can't see.

Reports on the scan

Post scanning the face, it tells you all abnormalities and detects skin and health problems.

How DOST is Making a Difference in Men's Skincare

Bridging the gap

DOST helps bridge the gap caused by products expiring on shelves by ordering the right products for individual needs, thereby assisting men in feeling more attractive.

Innovation in technology

The RPI HQ camera with the IMX477 sensor can capture some UV light below 400 nm, but the Bayer filter (RGB) absorbs most of it, limiting detection. By removing the Color Filter Array (CFA) through a chemical process, the sensor becomes sensitive enough for UV photography and real-time video. To enhance UV light detection, a short pass filter is used to allow only UV light to reach the sensor arrays, enabling better capture of UV wavelengths.
